What Is Deltatraveler Classic?

Deltatraveler Classic is an epic adventure game offering thrilling boss fights. Explore the open world, fight against different enemies, and find a way home.

This fan-made role-playing game was inspired primarily by Undertale and Deltarune. The story follows Kris and Susie after they unexpectedly find themselves in the world of Undertale. Their goal is to find a way home. Their journey becomes much more complicated when they encounter a mysterious grey door. The door transports them between different worlds, forcing Kris, Susie, and Noelle to adapt to unfamiliar environments. The game uses a top-down overworld similar to the style seen in Undertale and Deltarune. You guide Kris through different areas, interact with objects and characters, discover secrets, and encounter enemies. Rather than using random encounters, enemies can be seen in the overworld. You can often maneuver around them if you do not want to initiate a battle. This makes exploration more interactive because you have some control over when encounters happen.

Amazing gameplay of Deltatraveler Classic

Fighting or Sparing Enemies

You have a choice in how you finish many battles. The violent option involves attacking enemies until they die or run away. Successfully defeating enemies rewards you with EXP, and gaining enough EXP increases Kris's LV. The LV progression is shared with Susie and Noelle. However, violence is not the only solution. You can choose to spare enemies by using appropriate ACTs. Some enemies require specific interactions before the MERCY option becomes available. Noelle's Sleep Mist can also help in certain situations by putting enemies to sleep. This gives you an opportunity to experiment with different approaches instead of treating every encounter as a straightforward fight.

Defending and Earning TP

Fleeing from battles is not available in Deltatraveler Classic. Instead, defending becomes an important option. Defending reduces the amount of damage you take during the enemy's attack and also increases TP. The extra TP can then be used for spells and ACTs. This creates a useful trade-off. You may give up the opportunity to attack during a turn, but you gain additional protection and a resource that can be valuable later. Knowing when to defend can therefore make certain encounters much easier.

Handle Enemy Attack Patterns

Not every enemy attacks in exactly the same way. Some patterns may fill the battle area with projectiles, while others restrict your movement or introduce unusual trajectories. Learning the pattern is often more useful than simply reacting randomly. For example, Moldsmal can create difficult projectile patterns, including pellets that fall through the battle area and break into smaller projectiles. When several enemies are present, the attack space can become crowded quickly. Taking out enemies one at a time may therefore be a sensible strategy.

Inventory and Equipment in Deltatraveler Classic

The inventory system in this game takes inspiration from Undertale but separates different types of items into additional categories. Consumable items, equipment, and key items have their own sections, making it easier to manage your resources. Consumables can restore health or provide stat-related benefits during battles. Equipment includes weapons and armor that can be assigned to party members. These items can increase statistics and may also provide useful passive effects.

Consumable Items

Consumables are particularly valuable when you need to recover health or improve your performance during difficult encounters. It is worth keeping an eye on your supply rather than using every item as soon as you obtain it. If you know that a difficult battle or boss encounter is approaching, saving useful consumables can give you more options when the fight begins.

Weapons and Armor

Equipment allows you to customize your party's statistics. Weapons and armor can be assigned to different party members, improving their capabilities and sometimes granting additional passive effects. Before difficult battles, review your equipment and consider whether your current setup suits the upcoming encounter. A small statistical improvement can become significant when combined with careful ACT choices and effective SOUL movement.

The Overworld in Deltatraveler Classic

Exploration is an important part of the Deltatraveler Classic game. The overworld uses a top-down perspective, allowing you to move Kris through different areas and interact with characters and objects. The game retains the lighthearted dialogue and humorous flavor text associated with Undertale and Deltarune. This helps balance the darker moments and gives you reasons to investigate areas that are not necessarily required for progression.

Talk to NPCs and Examine Objects

Do not rush directly toward the next objective. NPCs can provide dialogue, jokes, context, and hints about the world around you. Objects can also contain flavor text or useful information. Exploration is particularly worthwhile in a game that draws so heavily from existing universes because familiar locations may contain unexpected changes. Take the time to investigate rooms and speak with characters. You may discover details that would otherwise be easy to miss.

The Grey Doors

The grey doors are central to the game's structure. At the end of each chapter, the party aims to reach a grey door that transports them to another world. These doors are not simply ordinary exits. They represent the transition between different sections of the journey. The new world may introduce different characters, environments, mechanics, or even an entirely different genre in future chapters. This keeps the premise flexible and allows the developers to experiment with different gameplay ideas.

All Chapters in Deltatraveler Classic

The available chapters give you a good idea of how the game's crossover concept works. Each section places Kris, Susie, and Noelle in a different environment and gives them a new obstacle to overcome.

Chapter 1

The first chapter begins with Kris and Susie waking up in the Ruins from Undertale. They meet Flowey, who introduces them to the Undertale battle system. Susie quickly modifies the arrangement so that she can fight alongside Kris. The pair later encounter Toriel, who recommends seeking the royal scientist in Hotland for help getting home. Noelle eventually joins the group, expanding the party and adding new abilities. This chapter establishes the basic gameplay systems and introduces the idea of traveling through worlds using grey doors. Important enemies include the Dummy, Whimsun, and Moldsmal. The Dummy can be spared through Talk or S-Action, while Whimsun has a tendency to flee. Moldsmal presents a more direct combat challenge and can produce dense projectile patterns during its attacks.

Chapter 2

The second chapter takes the party into the world of EarthBound. The trio needs to reach Lilliput Steps, but the path is blocked. To proceed, they must help rescue Paula from a cage. The situation involves Happy Happy Village and the cult controlling it, creating an objective that differs substantially from the events of the first chapter. This chapter demonstrates how Deltatraveler Classic can use another game's setting while adapting its story around Kris, Susie, and Noelle.

Chapter 3

The third chapter moves the party into the world of GG! Underfell. Here, the atmosphere becomes considerably more dangerous. Kris, Susie, and Noelle encounter Papyrus and Sans from GG! Underfell, who are far more hostile than their familiar counterparts. The party has to survive Papyrus's deadly puzzles and Sans's attempts to kill them while navigating a world where many characters appear more violent or unstable. This chapter highlights the game's ability to reinterpret familiar characters rather than simply reproduce their original roles.
