Backrooms does not give specific instructions. You will have to rely on your logical thinking and observation skills to find the right path. Strange sounds, flickering lights, and seemingly useless objects can all be important clues to help you escape this place. Sometimes you will come across notes from previous people, but be careful, not all messages are trustworthy.
To control, you flexibly use the WASD keys to move around, press Shift to run fast, and move the mouse to observe directions. Throughout the journey, staying calm and making timely decisions are vital factors for survival.
The game offers three challenge levels with increasing difficulty. Level 0 is the iconic yellow corridor, where you first face the endless looping space and the feeling of being watched. Level 1 takes you to a cold warehouse filled with water and thick fog, where the lighting is dim and the equipment makes an eerie clanging sound. Finally, Level 2 is a dark, industrial-style tunnel where the dangers get serious. Only by clearing this level will you have a chance to escape the vast maze.
